Statement of Faith

Scripture

We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament are the inspired Word Of God, the final authority for doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction for right living. We believe in one God, existing eternally in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, fully man and fully God, only begotten Son of the Father. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and lived a sinless life. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, buried and rose physically from the dead. He ascended to the right hand of the Father and will come again in power and glory.

Jesus

We believe that faith alone in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord frees us from the mastery of sin, and its consequences of death and eternal damnation. He assumed the penalty of death Himself and enables us to live out of His resurrected life unto eternity. We believe the Holy Spirit carries out this work of renewal in our lives, empowering us to grow in loving union with our Heavenly Father and to walk in obedience to His will. We believe that the Church of Jesus Christ is formed of all those who know Him as their Savior and Lord, regardless of denominational beliefs.

Sexuality

We believe that all of humanity is wounded, broken, and in need of the healing power of God’s grace in Christ Jesus. This is profoundly reflected in our sexuality.

There is a multitude of opinions pertaining to human sexuality in our culture, yet the bible is clear about the one idea that matters. Therefore, we affirm that God’s intention for human sexual conduct as defined in scripture is a faithful, lifelong heterosexual union for married persons and committed celibate behavior for unmarried persons. All other sexual practices are clearly identified as sinful and destructive of individuals, of community, and the fellowship of believers, and like all sin, call for repentance.

We firmly believe that gender matters. God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female, and these distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. To reject God’s design is to deny the person He created us individually to be.

Redemption

We believe that all who surrender their broken sexual expressions to the Lordship of Christ, be that heterosexual brokenness, homosexual brokenness, or otherwise, can rest in the multiple promises of scripture that a life surrendered to the Lord is fruitful, joyful, purposeful, and continually transformed into the likeness of Jesus.

Expression

We also firmly believe that the Bible is our rule for faith and practice, and we wholeheartedly affirm and exhort the Church to embrace its ethic of compassion, love, mercy to all, and especially to those who may be hostile or antagonistic to the teachings of scripture. A Living Letter Ministries affirms that it is the kindness of the Lord that leads people to repentance, and we are called to be tangible expressions of that kindness, while fully proclaiming and incarnating the truth of the scriptures.
